Hello Everyone, Announcing the availability of new Keypad V5 firmware, version 5.13 This is a minor update with some improvements and bug fixes. Release Notes for Keypad V5 version 5.13, 07-17-24 •Added ability to “Set Home Here” using non-clutch-aware encoder mounts (i.e., 1100 and 1600 mounts with absolute encoders) •“1=Objects” menu, “RA/DEC=>” screen reformatted for improved readability. •Improved keypad timing for control boxes with longer initialization time. •Bug Fix: Potential anomalous behavior while setting the Meridian Delay while also in a limit has been fixed. •Bug Fix: In Auto-Connect=EXT, do not overwrite external program track rate setting. •Bug Fix: If the battery is dead, corrupt object database entries limited to field width of screen, no longer overrun into other screens or into program scratchpad. •Bug Fix: Object database magnitude leading zero “flickering” eliminated. How to update your V5 keypad: All keypad updates are now done via the AP GTO Utilities, available on our website from the Software Updates page: https://www.astro-physics.com/software-updates/ FAQ: Should I update? This is a minor update, so it is not required. However we generally recommend keeping your firmware up to date Can I update just the firmware or do I need to update the catalog as well? If you are already on V5 keypad firmware, you can just update the firmware. If you are updating from V4 to V5 you will need to update both the firmware and the catalog Where is the updated user manual? https://astro-physics.info/tech_support/mounts/keypad/Keypad-manual-V5-2024-0719_with_cover_print.pdf Why is it version 5.13 and not 5.013? Did I miss a bunch of keypad updates?
We just removed the leading zero. This is the next version following v5.012 Brian Brian Valente Astro-Physics, Inc. 11250 Forest Hills Road Machesney Park, IL 61115 brian@... 815-282-1513

Hi Brian, thanks for the announcement. I have loaded the new handbook. There is again a question I forgot to ask for. In the Diagrams with the orders there are sometimes numbers on top. What they should tell us? Grüsse Konstantin Konstantin v. Hi Konstantin, They don’t provide any information for the user. They are screen-shot numbers only for our use. toggle quoted messageShow quoted text From: main@ap-gto.groups.io <main@ap-gto.groups.io>On Behalf Of Konstantin von Poschinger Sent: Monday, July 22, 2024 11:09 AM To: main@ap-gto.groups.io Subject: Re: [ap-gto] ANNOUNCEMENT: Keypad V5.13 firmware update Hi Brian, thanks for the announcement. Actually, they are handy as reference numbers in the instructions. For instance, please refer to screen 1006 in the diagram above. That’s the only purpose they serve. toggle quoted messageShow quoted text From: main@ap-gto.groups.io <main@ap-gto.groups.io>On Behalf Of Konstantin von Poschinger Sent: Monday, July 22, 2024 11:22 AM To: main@ap-gto.groups.io Subject: Re: [ap-gto] ANNOUNCEMENT: Keypad V5.13 firmware update Thanks for the quick answer Marj. I have an older GTP900, does this affect my keypad as well? also I control my mount from a PC using the V2 driver and ASCOM, I very rarely have a need to use the keypad directly. Does this version update affect the PC control or is it only for direct keypad use? |

Hi, the mount is not important for the update. If you don’t have a GTOCP 4 you can forget the update. Hi @aughtago It depends on which keypad version you are using (which is related to which control box you have) For the AP900 chances are you have a CP3 and Keypad v4, so this update is not for you. If at some point you upgraded to a CP4 and Keypad V5, it applies to you. >>> Does this version update affect the PC control or is it only for direct keypad use? This keypad update is for keypad use. There is no update to ASCOM V2 driver in this release. Hope that helps Brian Brian Valente Astro-Physics, Inc. 11250 Forest Hills Road Machesney Park, IL 61115 brian@... 815-282-1513

The AP-GTO Utilities version 3.0 manual states that the keypad software updates must be done with the control box connected to the computer via the USB / Serial. Are these still the only options, or have you added the capability to use Ethernet or WiFi ? Mike |
